US is losing its competitive edge

TechNet, a bipartisan network of tech CEOs, warned Congress last week that the U.S. could lose its tech leadership without significant investment in (1) education, (2) R&D, and (3) broadband.

They worry that our country, which invented the Internet and once dominated broadband adoption, is now ranked #13 (or #20, according to Brookings Institute) and continues to fall.

In the same week as the TechNet warning, a World Economic Forum report said
we already lost our 10-year position as #1 in tech innovation, falling down
to #5 behind Singapore, Iceland, Finland, and Denmark.

Passing laws to slow broadband deployment will set the US further behind.
