New report shows growth in Muniwireless
A new report by Muniwireless.com shows the rapid growth in municipal wireless networks, in the US and overseeas.
The report by municipal network expert Esme Vos documents 51 projects in the US and 42 in other countries. The report underestimates the growth in municipal wireless -- SaveMuniWireless.org estimates that there are between 30 and 40 projects in Texas alone.
The report describes the geographic coverage, business models, technologies, costs, and uses of the networks. It's great background showing the diverse approaches and worldwide spread of muni wireless.
The report also lists the status of bills in different US states that trying to turn back the clock on the spread of broadband.
