Vote in this online poll

Telephony Online is running an online poll on municipal broadband. The poll is at the bottom of the page -- fill it in and let them know what you think.

The questions have a bit of a slant:

Should municipalities be able to build their own broadband networks?

  • No, government units shouldn't compete with private enterprise
  • No, public networks will be an expensive taxpayer boondoggle
  • Yes, if incumbent service providers refuse to provide ubiquitous broadband service
  • Yes, but under tight financial regulation at the state or federal level
.
There is no choice for "Yes, networks are public infrastructure. Supporting broadband network should be a local decision, like streetlights, roads, and public transportation."
